| The skills necessary to perform rescues in a whitewater environment are essential for all paddlers, from the professional raft guide to the private kayaker. At Wet Planet, we offer our knowledge and experience to those looking to increase their swift water rescue skills. We provide three-day river rescue courses designed by paddlers for paddlers, utilizing experiential learning in actual river environments. The course begins with a day of classroom instruction, where students learn the basics of rescue gear and preparation, rescue organization, victim stabilization, boat retrieval, and rope systems. The second day is spent on the water, where we work on skills such as strong swimmer rescues, shallow water diving and wading, strainer management, and victim stabilization. The third day is spent practicing and refining rescue skills during a series of realistic river scenarios. | |||||||||||||
